Boulders and Trees

Time to make the 3D elements! These add so much dimension to the play mat and really make it come alive. Make as many or few as you like. Vary the shades of green you use in the trees and add or subtract rows for variety.

Row 1 form a magic circle. SCx6 in the magic circle. [6]

Row 2 2SC in each stitch. [12]

Row 1 Form a magic circle. Make a puff stitch. To make a puff stitch yarn over, insert your hook, yarn over and pull through. Repeat that 3 more times. Yarn over and pull through all loops. Chain one.

Make 2 more puff stitches for a total of 3. Pull on the yarn tail to tighten the MC and slip stitch to the top of the 1st puff stitch. [3]

Row 2 Chain 1. Skip over the space directly under your chain. Beginning in the next space between puffs, make 2 puff stitches in the same space. Repeat for the next space. Make 2 puff stitches in the space beneath the starting chain. Slip stitch to the top of the 1st puff of the round. [6]

Row 3 Chain 1. Make 1 puff stitch in each space between puffs. Slip stitch to the top of the 1st puff of the round.[6]

Row 4 Chain 1. Make two puff stitches in each space between puff stitches. Slip stitch to the top of the 1st puff of the round. [12]

Row 5-7 Chain 1. Make 1 puff stitch in each space between puff stitches. Slip stitch to the top of the 1st puff of the round. [12]
